Question:
When should the geofiltering feature be used?
Why did none of the contacts of a private group receive a message that used geofiltering?
Answer:
The geofiltering feature is best reserved for use on groups whose contacts' location is known. Groups that have contact location information include:
- Nixle Wire
- Nixle Dial
- Public Keyword Opt-In groups that request ZIP codes
- Private groups whose contacts were imported via CSV with the ZIP code column filled out
Contacts who do not have any location information will not receive messages that use geofiltering to select contacts. For example, if a message using ZIP code geofiltering is also sent to a private group of contacts who do not have any location information, none of the private group contacts will receive the message, even if they are located within the selected ZIP code.
